Taking girl back to the UK
« on: September 30, 2009, 04:05:11 pm »
I have been with my girlfriend for a few years no. Seeing her several times...

Have been to her home a few times..Her family have a nice house and small shop. By Thai up country standards I guess you could say that they were doing reasonably well..

I feel it's nearly time to consider a life together in the UK. I am sure she would like this.

I'me sure many of you have  done this on this forum..I mean what is the sort of success rate or are there are a lot of failed marriages...
Just want to make sure of what I am getting into as I feel this is probably the next move..

She did work in a bar for about 6 months...when I met her.
But she said she hated it and was happy to go stay home and help in the shop..
Its true I have sent her a few small amounts of money..but not much..
She never asked me for it.. We have known each other nearly 3 years..
Thanks for any responses

Hi Mate...First off marriages do fail quite often....
There are many things to consider when taking your girl back home..
Most ladies would be expecting you to send money home to her family each month..have you discussed this?

Secondly, Is her English good, bad or average..can make a lot of difference and cause a lot of frustration.!!

Also...are you prepared to have her sitting cross legged on the floor eating mostly with her hands.. In Thailand this can be expected..but in England will be frowned upon, when you guests or family around..Once again, this is something many do not consider..

Also have you thought what she will do when you go to work. Are you going to find her a job?
Remember you have only spent time with her whilst you are on holiday..

These are just a few of the reasons why marriages fail..
I don't mean to put a damper on these things...

There are of course many reasons why these marriages do not fail
Hope this helps!!
Best of luck with whatever you do!!!

Hi..I met a nice Thai lady..married her and got a settlement visa, with the help of Chang form visa2britain. We went back to the UK and that was 5 years ago. I have never seen her eat on the floor in that time.

She is a great cook and always insists we make time to eat. I have never regretted one day of our life together..
We are in Thailand on holiday and to see her family in Buriram

anyway,...i'm just here trying to get some information about visa...

Hi! I am a Filipino citizen with a residence visa in thailand, I'm living with my parents here. I'm planning to move to dubai(UAE) next year, probably around june or july. Getting a  visa in the Philippines is hard, some people say it would be easier to get one out of the country, though I'm not sure yet. I have an brother in dubai who will provide an invitation letter for me, does anyone here has an experience in getting a visa?  By the way, I'm going to take arabic lessons in January, and I'm also planning to study advanced language courses when I get to dubai. But I also want to work there to support for my needs. What are the things I should remember in applying for the visa? for the interview? How much money should I take for a 3-month stay in dubai? And how much does the Embassy requires for financial proof of stability? I'm quite nervous that it would be hard to apply for a visa and my application might be denied, and I may not be able to go to dubai. Any comments, suggestions and help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
